Developing Direction - Thirsty People Drinking from
a Foundation

March 4th
2016 11 - 4pm
‘Thirsty
People drinking from a Fountain’ (St Ephrem of Syria)
Revd Ann
Coleman
Cost: £45
This day offers the opportunity to explore the spiritual life through
the lens of metaphor as used by some of the ‘poet theologians’. It
will draw on the riches of the Scriptures and the Christian tradition
in a way which breaks open the text and enlarges the heart. The day
aims to deepen our own knowledge and understanding in a way which
will enrich the ministry of spiritual direction.
Ann has recently retired as Assistant Dean of St Mellitus College
where she taught Christian spirituality. She is now House for Duty
priest in Doddinghurst in Chelmsford Diocese where she is
involved in the ministry of spiritual direction and chairs the
spiritual direction co-ordinating group. She is a Trustee at the
London Centre of Spirituality and of the Association for Promoting
Retreats. Read more and book.

All Kinds of
Ways of Praying
Led by Rosey
Feuell
Monday evenings
6 – 8.30pm
Cost of the
course is £80 for either part 1 or part 2 and £140 for the whole
course.
Part 1 - Lent: Mondays 22, 29 February, 7,14 March 2016
Part 2 - June 6,13, 20, 27 June, 2016
This Course is designed for people who may be familiar with traditional
prayer times and methods, but would like to be more adventurous and
creative in their approach and possible follow-up activities, relating
prayer to their own needs and personal expression.
In this Course you will experiment with many different ways of praying
- all of which are flexible and allow scope for you to include areas
and materials important to your particular way of life and calling. An
important aim is to provide varied opportunities for you to develop
your own “spiritual self-expression” and individual style(s) of prayer.
The Course will:
• offer a combination of solitary and group work
• invite discussion and sharing to the extent you feel comfortable
• provide reflective and non-interpretative approaches
• encourage you to grow in prayer
The Course is open to people of all Christian traditions, those of
other faith groups, and any who are seeking refreshment and greater
depth in their prayer. It could be especially helpful to those who work
with individuals and/or small groups where conventional prayer sessions
are less appropriate. It could also offer ideas and inspiration for those
alongside people with particular needs or interests as many approaches
can be adapted to a variety of occasions.
The Course is divided into two separate parts, with two months between
parts, to allow time for participants to develop some of their discoveries
over Holy Week, Easter and Pentecost, in both private and public prayer
activity.
